Purpose Driven Blog

So - here's the thing. I am writing this because a friend inspired me to do so. The hilarious thing is that this friend will be the only person that reads my blog. Now, it all seems rather pathetic when I read all the other people's blogs - the in-depth thoughts/perspectives and ideas that flow.

My word for today would be "disconnect"... or "disconnection" if there is, in fact, such a word. It's an amazing thing when a person is idle, with nothing particular on the horizon. I can think about all the cliches such as "every day is a gift", "just take one breath at a time", "think of everything you have to be thankful for", "don't focus on tomorrow, it will take care of itself", "life happens when you're busy making other plans.... and many more. I am certainly not disputing these. There is truth in these. The thing is.... when a person is stuck, I mean really stuck.... think of when you were a kid and your rubber boot got stuck in the mud and the only way to get out was to pull your foot out of your boot. I'm thinking of the boot. Back to the stuck part.... when you're stuck, there is a disconnect with you and the people around you. It's as if life is happening around you and you are standing still. You want to move, but, the damn boot just won't pull out and there is no sign of help around. And, the sad thing is, you probably wouldn't recognize help if it was there.

It's a difficult place. It's a lonely, helpless place, yet, you know you are the only one who can get you out of the mud. But - what's beyond the mud? What if you have been in the mud for so long you can't imagine anything but that soggy, brown quagmire. What if, even though there may be flowers blooming all around you, all you see is the mud beneath your feet. People come and try to help... encouragement - come on, you can get out... think of all the other people so much worse than you. True, so very true. The flippin boot still won't come out. You must like it there, or you would get out. Hmmm... not so much like - familiar and, maybe safe.

Out of frustration and wanting to get that damn boot out, you read book after book after book, searching for the right book to give you the strength that's gonna pull that boot out. So many ideas, so many "right" ways to do it.... not unlike the friends and onlookers that have just the "right solution for you".....which one do you choose? You stay stuck because you can't sort out which one to use.... and, there must be a "right" one.... God knows you must do it the way someone else suggests because you wouldn't have gotten so stuck if it wasn't for your own silly path... therefore, someone else must have the answer to your plight.

So - you wait.... and you wait... sometime soon you will hear that still, small, voice you have heard others talk about.... and maybe, just maybe, you will be guided from within on how to get that boot out and clean the mud off.... then maybe the disconnect will be less and you will join the world in the way you were meant to.

Wow I wasn't expecting this much help in my efforts to avoid my paper! Thank you thank you thank you. That took up at least 3 minutes of my time, and it wasn't even wasted. Hey, what if the boot isn't stuck in mud? What if it's ACTUALLY stuck in chocolate, but you're just used to seeing mud so that's what you see? So you don't actually have to get the boot out, just throw yourself in...in to the chocolate.... :)) Aren't I creative when I'm avoiding something???
